Visit of the Bishop Parishes (7) Thirty-Three

Bishop Heriberto these days visited the parishes of the city of Treinta y Tres, the parish of La Charqueada, and the Colegio Liceo Nuestra Señora de los Treinta y Tres.

After the Mass, the Parish Council meeting, accompanied by Alec, a member of the Vicariate Pastoral. Although the group was small, were represented communities in several districts the parish: District Sosa, Olimar, Villa Sara, and a neighborhood which is the parish seat.
After listening to these, the Bishop invited them to take special care to be a community that receives, and a community that goes also to meet the remote.

Day of Prayer for Vocations and Seminarians

On this day 130 years ago, died in Sugar Loaf, on a mission, Bishop Jacinto Vera, first bishop of Uruguay. He remembered and beloved pastor had from the beginning of his mission, a special concern for the formation of future priests for our Church and founded the current Inter-diocesan Seminary Christ the King.

Our Diocese does not have at the moment with young people in training for the priesthood natives of our own soil. On 15 May, Pope Benedict XVI invites us to pray for vocations in the local Church, that is, in each diocese. If you always need our prayer that the Lord will send laborers into his harvest ", for this pilgrim people in Cerro Largo and Treinta y Tres is a pressing need. I therefore call on all communities who are zealous in that prayer, especially on the Sunday of the Good Shepherd.

Thanks to efforts initiated at the time of Bishop Luis del Castillo, our Diocese has received Colombian youth en route to the priesthood. There are currently three: Luis Fernando and José Reinaldo, and Deacons, and Juan Fernando, still a seminarian. All three are still in training, preparing for ministerial service with us.

Sunday May 15 will be in every parish a collection designed to raise funds to help defray the costs of their training, particularly in its monthly withdrawals, very important moment in this stage of his journey.
